Last season
We had a very successful  year and Ballooning in Soysambu has become a feature in the Kenyan Tourism Industry. For this year we shorten our low season by closing after Easter on the 10th of April 07 and will open already again on the 15th June 07. This will give Easter holiday makers a chance to view scenic Rift Valley from the birds perspective.

Accommodation facilities in the Naivasha / Nakuru area

The Flamingo Hill camp is a welcome addition to Lions Hill and Lake Nakuru Lodge to increase the number of beds in Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake Naivasha and Nakuru region is becoming more and more a destination for local and international visitors rather than just a one day stop over between Samburu and Mara. For hikers and Bikers this region offers the ideal environment with the Mt.Longonot  and the Menengai crater as well as hells Gate National Park. Another new establishment is "Maili Saba".Its situated on the scenic rim of the Menengai crater and is an ideal base to visit the Menengai crater floor.

New Envelope

Since November 06, we have been operating with two envelopes. This and the rather stable weather conditions in the area in the morning give potential clients almost a 100% guarantee that their flight will take place on the day they are booked for. Mr. Guenter Schabus our Chief Pilot has been on duty since October 06, with one month break in January 07, when Mr.Othmar pircher managed the flights. Othmar Pircher will be back on 15th of June to start the new season which looks very promising considering the number of bookings we have received so far.

Flamingo situation

Contrary to the News "Flamingo Flee Lake Nakuru", Flamingos and Pelicans are flocking back to Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita following the rains and actions taken to control sewerage waste. Right now millions of the Lesser Flamingos are flocking the lake shores and are feeding on the algaes in the waters. With the long rains on the way and the conservation efforts we hope that this bird  spectacle will be available to be seen by generations to come.

Infrastructure
The road construction work is progressing fast. The 7.3m wide road with shoulders of 1.85m on both sides has already been completed all the way from Naivasha to Gilgil and is expected to reach Lanet before the end of the year. The travelling time for balloon clients from the Naivasha region has considerably been cut down. Once the project is complited customers coming from Naivasha will be picked up at 5.45 am from their hotel, just like the ones from the Nakuru National Park.

300,000 trees for Soysambu over the next three years

Steve Scott and Rally driver Carl Tundo are involved in an ambitious conservation project on the Soysambu Ranch. The company, Agro business group, intends to plant 300,000 trees over the next three years on the Soysambu Ranch at the edges of the escarpment. This effort should put a stop to the ever decreasing rainfalls in the area and turn around the farming area into profitable enterprises.
